Celebrity Nose Jobs
Dr. Rizk, a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and a leading Expert, is interviewed on FOX 5 news on Celebrity Plastic Surgery and Revision Plastic Surgery.
Plastic surgery is common among celebrities since appearance is one of their most valuable assets. Many celebrities have undergone cosmetic surgery in order to reverse, maintain and improve their image. Facial plastic surgery is one of the most popular "must do" procedures within the celebrity circle. Often, the media publishes the celebrity’s before and after pictures, providing comparisons with expert opinions. Although critics and fans suspect a surgical procedure was done, most celebrities do not admit it publicly.
In the last decade, there were a few well-known celebrities who were brave enough to admit that they had undergone facial plastic surgery procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose job), facelift, neck liposuction and lip augmentation. For example, actress Cameron Diaz admitted to the British "Now" magazine in its January 2007 issue that she had undergone a nose job due to her deviated septum which caused her breathing problems. "The first time I broke my nose I was 11, the last time was when I was surfing," she told the reporter.
"The crazy thing is that it’s been broken from the same side every time so I had a little bump there," she added. In another interview to the Sunday Mirror, Diaz said: "I couldn’t take it, I couldn’t breathe at all. One side of my nose was completely shattered and my septum was basically like a train derailed."
Singer Ashlee Simpson is another celebrity known for remodeling her drooping nose. She did not admit that she underwent rhinoplasty surgery herself, but her father confirmed the surgery to the media. In May 2006, Joe Simpson, father of Ashlee and Jessica Simpson, confirmed the rumors about Ashlee’s nose job to Fox News. "Girls have their own ideas. Anyway, there was a real problem with her breathing and that was cured," he explained about his daughter’s nose job as it was done for a medical reason.
After she has been denying doing rhinoplasty surgery for years, lately actress Jennifer Aniston admitted to US magazine (2007) that "I had (a deviated septum) fixed. Best thing I ever did. I slept like a baby for the first time in years." Stephen Huvane, Jennifer’s representative had also confirmed that "Jennifer had a procedure done to correct a deviated septum that was incorrectly done over 12 years ago." Like many other stars, a "deviated septum" is still a popular excuse to mask a cosmetic nose surgery.
New York Facial Plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Rizk, who has performed numerous surgeries on actresses, models and other high profile celebrities, explains that most celebrities insist on complete anonymity. His staff and himself respect their requests and cannot provide information about famous patients who were treated by the doctor.
Subtle rhinoplasty surgery is the most common request for celebrities according to Dr. Rizk. They want an improvement, but they don't want anybody to know and they don't want to change their distinguishing characteristic features. This type of subtle precision surgery is now possible with Dr. Rizk’s high-tech 3D rhinoplasties. Additionally, as celebrities have little time for recovery, whether in between making movies or between concerts, Dr. Rizk has developed the rapid recovery techniques with subtle 3D contouring of the nose which allows a 5 day recovery, oftentimes without breaking the patient's nose.
